Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States. The process of laser hair removal has continued to improve as the laser technology has improved. It is today by far the most widely used high-tech method for hair removal. Laser hair removal techniques provide an extremely fast treatment time with little discomfort and less pain as compared to other hair removal methods like waxing. It provides long-lasting effects and since lasers work on removing multiple follicles at a single time, the process is much faster than other similar techniques.
The Fotona Nd:YAG laser has the depth of penetration necessary to reach hair follicles without causing collateral damage to the skin. Laser hair removal is accomplished by delivering laser energy into the skin where hair growth is present. Laser energy is attracted to hemoglobin that nourishes the hair follicle, and the melanin in hair within the follicle. White or gray hair does not pull in the laser energy and generally will not be affected by treatment. The hair follicles that are in an anagen, or growing, phase will absorb the energy, heat will be created and the follicle will die. A follicle in a resting or telogen phase will not draw in the energy and therefore will not be affected by the treatment. Treatments are timed to occur during these growth cycles. The amount of treatments necessary will depend on each patient’s expectations. An average person has around 6 growth cycles in a year. So, you should expect treatments to last at least that period of time!
Laser Hair Removal Costs: The cost of laser hair removal depends on the part of the body being treated and the amount and thickness of hair being removed. Small areas of the body cost under $100 per treatment, and large areas such as backs and legs typically cost a few hundred dollars. The body grows new hair in cycles, so complete hair removal typically requires about six treatments, and Tuscany offers a discount when prepaying for three-treatment and six-treatment plans.
