Laser hair removal is a safe and effective treatment for the reduction of unwanted hair for almost any skin type. You may be surprised to learn that virtually your entire body is covered with hair. Unwanted hair may grow in places which may make you uncomfortable. You know those little annoyances on your face, ears, neck, legs, underarms, back, and just about anywhere else. If any of this sounds familiar to you, it may be time to consider permanent hair reduction.
In the past, the usual methods of hair removal were shaving, waxing, plucking, and depilatories. Luckily, you have better options today. We utilize the Lumenis LightSheer diode laser system which is considered to be the Gold Standand in laser technology.
Throw those razors away and save water by eliminating that daily morning shave in the shower. Laser Hair Removal is our most popular procedure, and more affordable than you think. Some people with darker skin may need more treatments than lighter skinned individuals due to the less aggressive nature of the laser used. The laser produces a specific wavelength of light that is attracted to the dark pigment in the growing hair follicle, heating and damaging the follicle which then can’t grow back. By treating the areas of unwanted hair every 4-6 weeks, the hair follicles in that growing stage can be successively damaged, leading to permanent hair reduction. Multiple treatments are needed to damage all the hair follicles, so save money by purchasing a package.
For most people, laser hair removal feels like a series of small rubberband snaps. Care is used to avoid hurting the skin while causing damage to the hair follicle. An effective treatment will show temporary redness and swelling around the hair follicle. This will last 2-3 hrs to several days after treatment. It is important that you shave or clip the hair to be treated before your appointment and avoid sun exposure for a period of time before and after treatments to prevent side effects. Also, avoid plucking or waxing at least a month before your treatment—the laser needs a hair follicle to target and damage. In the meantime, just shave the area that you want treated.
