Until the early 1990’s, shaving, plucking, waxing and electrolysis were the only methods of removing unwanted hair. Then there was exciting news about using laser technology for successful hair removal. Since the mid-1990’s, laser hair removal has become the preferred method for hair removal.
There are a few different “types†of laser hair removal. The primary difference is the wavelength of the laser.
We are very pleased to utilize a state-of-the art laser. This new LASER TECHNOLOGY, using the Fotona Nd:YAG laser, can bring you amazing results in only a handful of visits. The wavelength of this particular laser is specifically engineered to perform these tasks. It is comfortable and safe. Plus, it yields long-term benefits.
How does it work?
First, our laser hair removal procedure is performed by a specially trained, experienced laser technician. A hand-held laser is pressed against your skin. When the laser is activated the light energy of the laser passes through the skin to the hair follicles below. This penetrating light from the laser is absorbed by the hair follicle, damaging it to the point where hair production is no longer possible. This is a non-invasive procedure and typically pain free.
Complete hair removal often requires one to four sessions that are as little as five minutes to more than one hour, depending upon skin type, hair color, and size of area. During your personal consultation you will receive a full evaluation depending upon your own situation and needs. See Before and After Photos.
Electrolysis vs. Laser
Hundreds of thousands of women (and lots of men, too) will consider some form of permanent hair removal in the next several months. Your main considerations will be either electrolysis or laser hair removal. Both types of hair removal have their benefits; it simply depends on what you are looking for. Here are some examples of questions to consider:
How much are you willing to spend (think of both short-term and long-term)?
Are you seeking primarily a pain-free alternative?
What do you consider a reasonable number of visits to accomplish your goal?
Are you looking for complete permanent hair removal?
There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of hair removal. One of the biggest differences when comparing electrolysis to a laser method is that electrolysis deals with the treatment one hair at a time, instead of a much larger area. With electrolysis a tiny, metal probe is inserted into the hair follicle. Then an electronic charge is released which effectively destroys the hair at the root. Again, this is performed one hair at a time and there is some pain associated with this treatment.
Depending on your skin type and hair color, under certain circumstances, electrolysis may be the preferred method for hair removal. For example, laser hair removal may be preferred as it’s faster for larger areas and works best with darker hair. Meanwhile, electrolysis is best for blond, gray or red hair. Or, we can use a combination of both Laser technology along with Electrolysis to achieve the ultimate result of permanent hair removal.
